United Way of Wexford-Missaukee Counties Community Investments for 2010-2011 include:

  • Direct Program Funding - Over 22 local programs meeting the critical human needs of our community have been awarded funding for this year.
  • Indirect Program Support- United Way works all year to support and develop programs and services that will work more effectively and increase services to the community.
  • Community Initiatives- United Way invests time and effort to mobilize support and to bring outside grant funds into the community to provide needed services. Examples are: Safe Kids of Wexford-Missaukee, 211 Helping Services, Early Childhood -Born Learning, and Child Protection Council.
  • Convening Collaborations - United Way brings together community stakeholders to determine more effective ways of meeting needs.
  • New Opportunities to Make a DIfference- United Way seizes available opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of families in our community. Example: In 2009 United Way partnered with Payless Shoe Source to give away 100 pairs of shoes to children in need.
